I ran out of dumpster space before I ran out of time this weekend. So. Much. Trash! Thankfully, there's only about a third of the trailer left to demo. Another weekend or two, and we should be mostly done. Then it's on to working on a loan. We've received several questions recently about how people can help. The biggest help we could use is people buying Founders' Club packages and getting the word out about Founders' Club packages. Despite the heat, I got on it yesterday, and made some good progress - two more rooms emptied and one completely demolished. Someone stole a bunch of copper wire I was salvaging to offset costs, so that sucks, but they probably need it more than we do. I made some more progress today. The dining room is in the dumpster now. I'm about two-thirds done overall, and about half done with the trailer itself. Check out the photo of the rotten floor. That's the bathroom, and I don't know how it was used without people falling through. The subflooring is completely rotted out, and was falling apart just from sweeping across it. "Quiero quiero" to be done with this roof... And I am! I cut the last of the original roof out today, and now it's all about the demolition! The only thing I would change about today is I wish my boys could have been there to help on Father's Day. Super productive day today at the property. Saw a snake, a possum skeleton, a cat(?) skeleton, two very cool looking spiders (only one let me take a picture), and the scariest electrical work I've ever seen. The rest of the addition went bye-bye. I got at least three, 30" strips of original roof removed, and tons of debris moved to the dumpster. It might not look like much from the pictures, but it was a productive day. I bagged up a bunch of the original roof material, removed a course of flooring from the addition, and took down the final wall of the addition. Peeling off the original roof, one 30" strip at a time. I made decent progress on Memorial Day. One more day, and I should have the rest of the roof off. Two weekends of working on the demo paid off. I missed sharing last week's update, so here's a double dose for you. All of the roof super-structure is off now. I've started removing the original roof leaving the substructure exposed. Finally got a decent block of time to work on the demo. The addition is taking FOR-EV-ER to remove, with all the nails in the flooring. I got bored with it and started to take off the original roof, but I had to remove gable siding and soffeting first. Saturday's work this week. I completely removed the roof framing on the addition. This section appears to have been built to code, which I can't say about the roof over the original trailer. Another productive six-ish hours. The mobile home had a roughly 20x22 addition. The asphalt shingles came off the whole addition on Saturday, and the first half of the under layment came off Sunday. This roof appears to have been built to code, unlike the super roof for the rest of the trailer. It was WAY more difficult to get off. We still have Founders Club packages available on our website.
